This week saw the release of both versions 5.9.0 and 5.9.1 of ICS Calendar Pro.
These updates are focused on adding some essential functionality to make ICS Events much more useful as an all-around calendar management platform.
The changes in version 5.9.0 focused on improvements to recurring events, specifically:
- Recurring events that occur on a specific day/week each month can now be configured to occur on the last week of the month, instead of a specific numbered week (1-5).
- Recurring events can now occur multiple times per month/week, with the day/week selectors converted from radio buttons to checkboxes.
- Recurrence now supports exception dates (the iCalendar
EXDATE
field), allowing you to set specific dates to skip a recurrence.
In addition to these recurrence enhancements, version 5.9.0 includes various minor bug fixes as well as some enhancements to the ICS Widget feature.
The changes in version 5.9.1 are all about the editing experience.
ICS Events are built “the WordPress way” as much as possible, right down to being a Custom Post Type (CPT). But CPTs by default display the admin index page as a tabular list of posts. That may be suitable for certain types of content, like pages or e-commerce products, but it’s not a very efficient way to interact with the entries in a calendar.
As of version 5.9.1, the main ICS Events page in the admin now displays as a calendar, using the standard month view, with month/list toggle. A dropdown lets you select any month within a +/- 10 year span, along with filtering the calendar view by your custom event categories.
A link allows you to continue to access the classic list view, if you prefer.
ICS Calendar Pro v. 5.9.1 is available now!
